A retired couple, after a bustling life abroad, decided to return to their hometown in Taiwan. Seeking solace and tranquility, they found the perfect location next to a river, with a breathtaking view of Guanyin Mountain. The design of their living space, aptly named "Peace of Mind from the Distant Vision," focuses on simplicity and harmony with the natural environment.

The indoor space of the couple's home is intentionally reduced from complexity to simplicity, allowing the natural surroundings to take center stage. The design team, led by Chih-Chen Chang of Not A Bridge Design, aimed to create a seamless connection between the interior and the picturesque landscape outside.

The main axis of the design revolves around the stunning views offered by the location. Large windows frame the panoramic scenery, inviting the beauty of nature into every corner of the living space. The minimalist interior design elements, such as clean lines, neutral colors, and uncluttered spaces, further enhance the sense of tranquility and serenity.

Chih-Chen Chang, the mastermind behind this project, explains, "We wanted to create a living space that provides a sense of peace and calmness. By reducing the complexity of the indoor environment, we allow the natural surroundings to become the focal point. It's about finding harmony between human habitation and the beauty of nature."

The design team, including Lin Yu-Chen, meticulously crafted every detail to ensure a seamless integration of the indoor and outdoor spaces. The result is a home that not only offers a luxurious and serene living experience but also celebrates the natural beauty of Taiwan.

"Peace of Mind from the Distant Vision" was recognized for its exceptional design and received the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2021. This accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to industry standards. The award-winning design is a testament to the team's commitment to creating spaces that bring fulfillment and positive emotions, contributing to a better world.
